Viral Marketing Profits With This 5-Part
Blueprint
By Mervyn Love
So, just what is Viral Marketing? OK, Viral Marketing is giving away useful
information which contains links to your products (or affiliate products) which then leads to sales
and profit or commission. It's a simple concept but you can lose out if you don't go about it the
right way. Notice I said 'give away information'. Everyone wants information and everyone wants
something for nothing.
Here is my blueprint for building sales with Viral Marketing:
1. Put together your giveaway.
Write a simple report or article on your chosen subject which gives people
really useful information. But - the secret is to make them want more. So include a reference to
some aspect of the subject which you haven't got room to include, but which they can benefit from
even more if they buy the product. If you are writing an article make it between 400 and 700
words.
If you are working on a report, then it needs to be several pages, say between 3
and 10. Don't produce something with lots of fluff and little meat. Remember, in your viral
marketing campaign you are aiming to give your potential customers useful information. They will
value that and want to follow up your links out of respect and appreciation.
2. Include links to your product
Having wet their appetite for more knowledge now put in the links to the
products your are promoting. If you are writing an article, be careful not to include too many
links as this dilutes the effect. You don't want people charging off here and there as they will
just go around in circles and not buy anything. Keep links to one or two at the
most.
If your viral marketing giveaway is a report, then you can afford to include
more links. Even include links to other useful websites from which you get no commission or sales.
This will add value to the report and your readers will love you for it.
3. Turn it into a PDF
If you've produced a report turn this into a PDF file, but make it clear that
people can pass it on to their friends or website visitors or to their mailing list. If you have
the Adobe PDF maker you're all set. If you haven't then there are several alternatives on the
Internet. Just search for 'PDF maker' and see what you come up with.
4. Submit your article to Article Directories
If your viral marketing giveaway is an article submit it to Article Directories.
Why? Because thousands of webmasters are looking for good quality content. They download articles
and put them on their sites so even more thousands of people will see your articles and click on
the links they contain.
There are literally hundreds of directories to choose from. My all-time
favourite is EzineArticles.com. They are one of the best and treat their authors like real people.
If you want to submit to several directories it will take time to do it all manually, but you can
get software that will do it for you. My favourite is 'Article Post Robot' which is the most
automated one I've come across. Article Post Robot includes a database of directories and you can
visit them right inside the program. There's a link to this software on my website
(below).
Many directories require you to sign up for a (free) account. Do this and then
fill in your profile and choose and enter a pen-name. A pen-name is sometimes needed when
submitting articles.
5. Use forums to offer your giveaway
Whatever niche you are selling to there is at least one forum that caters for
it. For instance if you are writing about songbirds do a search on 'songbird forums'. Join as many
forums as you can manage, then log in regularly and read the posts. This will give you the
opportunity to respond to questions posed with your answer. In your signature file put a link to
your free report or article.
You'll be surprised how many people will click on it, especially when your
presence on the forum is recognised and other members can see you know what you're talking
about.
