Click Tracking & Link Cloaking

Everyone into internet marketing needs to get to grips with click tracking and link cloaking. Here's why...

The information that click tracking gives you is invaluable. It tells you how many people click on each link in a given period such as a month, week or year, and depending which software or service you use, much more besides. Where your visitors are coming from, which days are most popular and so on.

Cloaking your affiliate links prevents fraudsters ripping you off by changing your affiliate code to theirs and getting the commission for the purchase instead of you. The way it works at its simplest is like this: A fraudster visits your site and sees a product he thinks is really cool and decides he will buy it. He hovers the mouse pointer over the link on your site that will take him through to the product sales page. If your link isn't cloaked the URL in the link can be plainly seen at the bottom of the screen. all he has to do is copy the URL into the web address line at the top of the page and replace your affiliate ID with his. This is easy to do with ClickBank links. He then buys the product knowing that the commission will come to him which often means that he gets it at half-price - and you get nothing.

For a comprehensive review of why click tracking will benefit you, read this article.

Below I'm giving some resources that will help you with both click tracking and link cloaking so that you can decide which to use yourself.

NEW!! This is new piece of software that will both track your clicks and also cloak your links to protect against commission theft. You must check this one out. Read on...

This program, called Cloak and Tracker, has
three HUGE features -- most people will find at least two of them are needed in their business and some people absolutely need all three features.

1. Do you promote affiliate products? If you're not cloaking your links you could be losing 30% of your sales. Get a calculator out and see what kind of money you could be losing every single month.

2. Do you have pay-per-click campaigns, write articles, or do other types of advertising? If you don't track where your traffic is coming from, you could be losing hundreds of dollars every month.

3. Do you write ebooks or special reports? If your links in those aren't dynamic links, if they can't be changed even after the ebook is downloaded, you're living on borrowed time.

Cloak and Tracker will fix all those problems in a heartbeat. And it's so simple to use that it's almost transparent. Plus, unlike some other software, you can use Cloak and Tracker on as many web sites as you want.

Seriously, if you're promoting affiliate products, doing any kind of advertising online, or writing ebooks and special reports, Cloak and Tracker is a *must* *have* program. Take a look...

TrackThatAd.com

I'll start off with TrackThatAd because it's free! Being free it is somewhat limited, but none-the-less is quite sufficient if you want to test out the tracking concept.

To get set up, just decide which of your websites or affiliate products you want to keep track of and have the URLs handy to plug into TrackThatAd. I find it useful to list them on a spreadsheet so they can easily be copied and pasted.

You can choose from a range of ten tracking URLs such as http://here-is-more.info/?i=yourID/ or http://w--o--w.com/?i=yourID/ to use in your promotions. So for instance, if you were going to advertise in four different e-zines you could choose four TTA URLs and use one for each e-zine. That way you can tell which e-zine generated the most interest.

Another benefit of TrackThatAd is their URL Rotator. You get four rotators to use. What are they for? Well, for instance: you might often find yourself in a situation where you are only allowed to give one website to promote, but you actually want to promote more than one. An example would be a traffic exchange. Rather than accepting your fate and choosing the site you would most like to promote, you can now promote all of your sites through your URL rotator. When asked for the address of the site you want to promote, you just give the address of your URL rotator. Check it out by Clicking Here

Adminder.com

This is the main service I use. I use it not only for links through to product sales pages, but also for tracking downloads of free e-books, and for tracking how many people download articles from another of my websites. I can tell which of these items are popular and which aren't. If interest disappears for a particular download I can drop it and make room for something else. There is a fee which can be paid monthly, quarterly or annually, but you can go for a 14 day Free Trial.

Using the Adminder resource will:

• Show you exactly how many visitors were generated by each of your ads.
• Reveal which ads generate the most visitors, subscribers, downloads, sales, etc.
• Calculate cost-per-click, cost-per-sale, and click-to-sale ratios for each ad.
• Show you Return on Investment for each ad so you know which are profitable.
• Provide an at-a-glance look at all of your current, expired, and scheduled ads.
• Organize and sort all of the important details about your ad campaigns at will.
• Allow you to group your promotions by site, type of ad, or any other criteria.
• Show you how many Clicks, Sales, etc. an ad generated for any date range.
• Send you a daily email report based on the information you're interested in.
• Export a detailed activity report that will impress your boss (if you have one).
• Ensure you don't lose traffic if you mess up any links due to their default URL system.
• Ensure that your data is safe from prying eyes due to their secure encrypted system.

You can create different categories of links tracked, for instance you could have one category for health products and another for fitness products. This way it's easier to evaluate which type of product is doing best.

So if you promote or advertise anything online I strongly suggest that you check out the AdMinderwebsite and discover for yourself how you can literally double your sales and profits. I use their strategy and it really works! Click here to take a closer look.

You can also join their Affiliate Program without necessarily using the system yourself. Click here to sign up

Affiliate Link Cloaker

Affiliate Link Cloaker
Ever heard of Affiliate Commission Theft?

It's claimed to be the least known yet most widespread Internet marketing problems for ebook publishers, writers, and resellers. In short, what I found was, if you use affiliate programs in any way, shape or form, some people somewhere are almost
certainly stealing YOUR money!

How much? Well, it's reckoned up to 30% of all affiliate commissions are "hijacked" or bypassed, often by customers who either put their own affiliate IDs in where yours should be or who "chop off" affiliate links at the end of URLs.

If that makes you pause for thought - it should!

"Affiliate Link Cloaker" is my preferred solution and it's ever so easy to use! While it has some sophisticated technology and actually encrypts your affiliate link, all you need to use it is a PC and Web site. No technical skills required!

In fact, in five simple steps that take only a few minutes, you can make any product you sell as an affiliate look like it has its own page on your site. Your affiliate link will literally disappear. People won't even realize you're selling it as an affiliate! This is really cool and one of the neatest aspects of this program that I like. Take a look and check it out (and this URL is an example of a cloaked link: http://www.fortresspublishing.com/cloaker.html
